An interest in contemporary drawing has expanded to embrace the use of non-art materials. Common stationery items such as masking tape and paper clips are incorporated in the work to challenge the viewer’s perception. A combination of geometric precision and intuitive placement of the materials allows their job to be declared in the art making process.
I completed ten works in this series - all 300 x 300mm - as a member of a collective of artists (Department of Works) under the mentorship of artist Peter Adsett and art historian Mary Alice Lee. This collective is represented by PaulNache Gallery in Gisborne, New Zealand.
