Studying for a Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts in 2020 resulted in a change of direction for my art practice, as I explored systems theory and the aesthetics of chance. These two concepts spoke to major life experiences – in particular my nursing career and the events following the Kaikōura earthquake in 2016 – and provided a link between the various strands of my art making. The boundary between choice and chance became the major focus for me.
